Nobody
knows exactly when this site was born since it started taking visitors
before it was fully built. The oldest entry in our access list dates
from September 8th, 2004. Earlier that time, the head administrator,
Andrew (SiriusBlack) had the idea of a special and unique Potter
site that will bring together fans from all over the world in a
friendly environment. Hogsmeade Village was initially meant to be
a Sirius Black fansite, Sirius being Andrew’s favourite Harry
Potter character.
The first months of existence
were terrible: hardly 10 visitors a day that never came back after
their visit. Hosting was also a big problem. Due to the fact that
Andrew’s parents were not willing to pay money for a professional
hosting service, he had to continuously search for free web hosts.
So the site moved from one host to another. Its first stop was at
dap.ro. It didn’t spend too much time there and moved to 3x.ro
where we were again disappointed. The hosting issue combined with
the great deal of effort Andrew had to sustain to keep the site
updated was almost to put an end to Hogsmeade, right after its tender
beginnings. But no, this site remains here today as a result of
Andrew’s intense passion for the Harry Potter series.
Right when the situation was
at the highest level of desperation, things gradually started to
brighten up. The site gained an identity when the domain name Hogsmeade-Village.com
was registered in the 2nd of February, 2005. Taking the advice of
a good friend and colleague, Andrew learnt to want more and started
seeking for the perfect web host to host our new site. The search
lasted almost the entire summer of 2005 but with excellent results.
Hogsmeade is now hosted by X3Fusion.com.
Some people applied for positions
in our staff but few of them showed signs of life after they were
accepted. Those that did, never completed our assignments. At the
moment, the staff is comprised only by Andrew and Adi. We welcome
anyone willing to help… Because you are important and you
can make a difference! Only one more Potter book left to be released.
